I'm really pissed about it, too. And its just a bonus on top of a night when Holly wanted a boob in her mouth 24/7. So, hey. Did I ever say something dumb like Holly was a different or better sleeper than Robin?

I really hate my husband right now, because he is asleep, and he gets to sleep every night.

So my IUD got placed and it was and is no big deal. The anticipation was the worst part. The placement itself was uncomfortable but quick. I've had some mild cramping (not even as bad as my worst regular cramps, I'd say) and a tiny bit of spotting. I honestly don't even notice a thing different. So I'm hoping it stays this way and I can give it two thumbs up. Only BAD thing is that she trimmed the strings a little short and due to the way the thing is sitting, she can't visually check it's placement, so I have to get my first ultrasound to check my birth control in a month :P.

I'm angry.

Mirena for me is $800+ which is insane. So we are waiting a bit longer and trying to be better about condoms all the time.

can i just say -- i think it is ROYALLY INSANELY HORRIBLY unfair that he gets to sleep by himself. i don't know the background of what led to that decision, maybe it was more about safety if he's a deep sleeper or something, but sending you off to the insomnia ghetto every night is a sure way to perpetuate inequality in a relationship :(

what can i say, you are such a lucky woman to be married to such a helpful and giving partner, lenore!!

that's interesting about jasper's sleep. i think i need to do something similar with holly but am not sure how to handle it. i think it would be better if we transitioned her out of my bed before she turns 1 so we don't go through the same thing you and i went through with n & r, but i don't know how that will work out.

Did you get the Mirena? I'm going to get one, too. I have only heard good things from users.

I hate nursing all night, too. It's so frustrating.

i did get the mirena. i have to say if it continues to be this completely easy, i will be an insane advocate for it. i can't quite believe i can have unprotected sex for 5 years and have it be cheaper than condoms (m ins covered all but $10!).

Oh my gosh! That is amazing!

I hope ours covers that much. Even if we paid out of pocket, we'd spend more on BC pills in a year.

Yeah, here's all the great things about it:

- it's breastfeeding compatible
- it doesn't have the negative side effects/risks of a systemic hormonal method
- the low dose of progesterone means lighter periods
- no condoms
- lasts up to 5 years
- instantly effective
- instantly reversible and you only have to wait 1 cycle to TTC once it's removed
- quick insertion and removal
- don't have to remember anything

RIGHT??? How is that not the perfect birth control?

That was our math too, even though we paid a good chunk of it, it was still cheaper than BC pills, and way WAY cheaper than a second baby!

I feel you mama. I think I seriously contemplated smothering my husband as he slept peacefully and I sat up with a hungry newborn for an hour out of ever 2 hours or so.

I've thought about an IUD. I need to seruously think about BC options after Moira is born, because what we were using was obviouasy not so effective. :)

Yep, Holly was a surprise baby, too, so this time I wanted to act decisively. I am kind of in love with my IUD if it stays this problem-free!

Hey. :) [livejournal.com profile] thesaturdaygirl recommended that I friend you. :) I'm pregnant and struggling with some super frustrating prodromal labor, and she said you went through something similar with your second daughter, so she thought we could commiserate, LOL. I've seen your comments on Robina's journal and you seem super nice. So, wanna be friends? :)
