Some info/thoughts...

- This baby's EDD is Jan 20th.
- Robin arrived a little earlier than her EDD, around 39w3d. Robin was 8lb5oz and 18 in. She had brownish red hair and blue eyes at birth although now is a total towhead.
- Me, my sister, and Robin were all born early on the Sunday mornings nearest our EDDs (my Mom was not induced either time).

My thoughts?? Ummmm... well, I do think gender could go either way but most of the time I think it's a girl. I think the baby will probably arrive a little before the EDD, but not crazy early, and that the baby will be similar in size to Robin although probably longer (18 in is short!). I think this baby will be darker in coloring, and probably have brown hair. I'm not sure about birth time, sometimes I envision it happening in the afternoon and sometimes in the dark. (Brian is like nazi youth, btw -- very blond and blue eyed -- so the genes could kind of go in any direction!)

As I've extensively blogged, the pregnancies have been very similar except I have gained less weight this time, yet am measuring ahead, and this baby acts very differently in utero.

I'm holding off on my entry until some people have made guesses.

i am so thrilled to meet this baby! i have a guess on sex, but maybe it's more of a hope...

to me, it seems ideal to have one of each sex, so i sort of hope or think maybe you might have a boy this time. i know you'd both fall so incredibly in love with either, but your love for a boy would rock your world so much after having a girl. it's probably more likely you'll have a girl since so many people seem to have the same sex on their first two children, then sometimes the other sex on the third, but i do think your little family would suit a male spirit at this point in your lives.

Lenore, I dreamed last night that we had a boy! It was really funny because I didn't really give birth in the dream (Kathy just handed me a baby), but I was very happy and then I showed Brian the baby so he could see it was a boy and he said "bummer."

But in REAL life when I told him about the dream, when he heard it was a boy he said YAY, so I think we are really excited EITHER way -- moreso than with Robin because we have two names we feel great about and somehow that makes us feel excited because we like the idea of either little person. And I agree, it would be interesting to experience that boyness, and we would love it I am sure. Plus I think Robin would be a very good sister to a boy -- all her best friends have been boys.

yay! i had a boy dream this time around too...although last night it was a girl dream. so i've officially had one of each. trickster baby!

la made an interesting point a while back -- she said that her good friend kelly has an AWESOME marriage and she's always attributed it to her 3 (!) younger brothers and the relationship she had with them. this idea made me kind of excited for wren to have little brothers, something i never had. i never thought about how my relationship to dudes would be different had i lived with one that wasn't my dad.

My earliest baby dream was a girl, so I've officially gone both ways this time, too. Stupid brain!! I think in my dream I was semi-aware of how excited I was to finally be dreaming about the baby!

Yes, I can see how different Robin's life would be from mine if she grew up with a brother... and for that matter, how a little boy's life would be different growing up with a sister since Brian only had a brother. In some ways I think I'd mourn the loss of experiencing sisterhood through Robin and her sibling, but at the same time, it would be neat to see how the brother-sister dynamic works and how that friendship evolves. I think we tend to desire the familiar, and obvs you and I both adore our sisters, so it makes sense that we'd want that for our girls even though we know that brothers can be equally wonderful.

you might always have a third! ;)

i actually actively want a boy at some point...for all the reasons you and i have talked about now. since we plan on three, there's no pressure on this one and i will be happy either way (though i got a little weird glimpse of disappointment a few weeks ago when i realized it might NOT be a boy, which surprised me). like you, i think i would be a little sad if wren never had a sister because mine are my best friends, but i also sort of like the idea of wren being my only girl too. it's weird. being a mom is funny.

I don't know if we'll have 3. In my head, it would be nice, but I don't really see it happening. So this feels very big, to see who this person is and be like "ok, this is our family."

oh yes, i know you're planning on this being your last baby. i was just sayin'...chicken. (that's a weird phrase my sisters and i use when we really have nothing left to say; when we were in florida in 2007 we drove past some fried chicken place that had a sign up that said I'M JUS SAYIN CHICKEN and it has become a catch phrase in our family). but really, i was just teasing.

Brian is pretty set on getting the snip ASAP :P otherwise I guess we could get another surprise like we did in May ;)

i also agree with your comments about the contrast in physical appearance in the two children. so rather than having a completely different sex, i could also see a completely different little girl in your lives. i know that so far jasper and noam are night and day, even though their pregnancies were mirror ones. i could also see that happening with your family.

i do think that we are given the children our families are supposed to have. jasper makes so much sense--he's so fat and funny and easy compared to noam. i think (and hope!) that your family has a similar experience to shake things up (and balance them.)

i kind of want to guess boy just because the boy name REALLY resonated with me -- in an oslo way (when la told me her names i was immediately like IT'S A BOY, OMG even though i was stumped until then) -- and much more than the girl one, even though i love the girl one. but i honestly don't know. i had a feeling wren and robin were girls, as you know, but this time i am stumped for both of us. my guessing mojo has been shit lately (except for maggie and one other lj friend) so you shouldn't trust me anyway! this pregnancy has thrown me all kinds of off. :P

i can't wait til i can do my poll!!

also since you said one of my girl names was so "happy" and said the possible theme-iness wasn't a big deal i have been more drawn to it. :)

i will ruminate on this and get my real guess up later.

After last night's dream, I am kind of tempted to say boy, too!! It provoked such mixed emotions -- confusion, joy, a little wistfulness for all the girly stuff that we'd be putting away, but also a sense of rightness. In the dream I definitely remember thinking "aha, this is [boy name]." And I was mad at Brian (in the dream) for saying "bummer" -- when IRL he said "yay!" when I said I'd dreamed it was a boy. It was also really funny because I kept looking at his penis like omfg, I grew a penis.

I love that girl name you are talking about!

Oh man, this is so exciting. 18 inches is pretty short!

I think you'll have a boy.

I know, it is shrimpy!! I see a lot of people who have babies that weigh about the same as Robin but got 3 extra inches or so to stretch out that chub. She came out with little fat rolls on her thighs.

I went and did the poll and when I saw your last name, I had to laugh--I have another friend with the same last name and her husband is *also* named Brian. :)
