Question for math brains
Dec. 15th, 2007 07:42 pmI need math brain help.
OK, part of my student's grades is determined by a study group they attend (it will make up 20% of their grade). Their study group leaders submit their grades to me in totals (x points out of x points). Each group has a different point total, but I need to enter the SAME point total in my gradebook for each student. So, I need to convert the grades to all be out of the same # of points.
I was thinking that I could just find out what the percentage is, and give them those points out of 100. So if a student received a grade that equals 88%, he'd get 88/100.
Is there any reason this is unfair? I can't think of why this is a BAD idea, but I'm so awful at thinking my way through these things that I'm sure it MUST be a bad move to make.
